Most jewellery damage is not dramatic. It is perfume, moisture left overnight, salt air, and tossing pieces into a shared pouch. Climate changes the details — humidity, dry heat, winter heating — but the habits stay the same wherever you live.

Daily habits that matter

• Put jewellery on after perfume, sunscreen, and hair products.
• Wipe with a soft dry cloth before storing, especially after a commute or a swim.
• Keep pieces separate so clasps and stones do not scratch neighbouring metal.
• Avoid chlorine, seawater left to dry, and abrasive kitchen cleaners.

What actually dulls a finish

Sweat, leftover SPF, and sleeping in damp metal. A piece designed for daily wear can handle water; it should not sit wet in a closed box. In humid weather, store jewellery where air can move. In dry weather, a cloth wrap is enough. Do not leave pieces on a bathroom tray.

When finish looks tired

A gentle polish cloth restores most everyday finishes. If a clasp feels weak or a stone sits loose, stop wearing it and write to the atelier. Everyday jewellery is meant to be worn hard — care is maintenance, not ceremony.
