Office styling: polished, not performative.

Work jewellery should feel like good stationery: precise, calm, and easy to live with for eight hours. It has to read well under cool office light, on camera, and across a commute — then still make sense if the day runs into dinner.

The mistake is treating the office as a stage. Pieces that catch every overhead lamp, tap the desk, or snag a knit become a distraction. Polish is quieter than that.

A reliable desk formula

• Slim hoops or small studs — presence without costume.
• One fine chain or pendant at collarbone length, visible with shirts and knits.
• A single ring or a quiet two-band stack that does not catch on a keyboard.
• Skip loud bracelets if you type, take notes, or live on video calls.

On camera and in the room

If a piece flashes in a laptop camera or throws light across a meeting table, it is doing too much. Fine metal close to the face — earrings, a short chain — reads as considered. Large moving bracelets read as restless. The same rule holds in an open office, a studio, or a home desk.

Desk to dinner

Add one piece at the end of the day — a longer necklace, a second earring, or a cuff. Change scale, not your entire personality. The jewellery you already wore to work should be able to stay on.

If it distracts on a video call, leave it for the weekend.
