Travel jewellery should survive humidity, security trays, long-haul sleep, and the habit of falling into bed still dressed. The brief is the same whether you are flying for a weekend or moving cities for a month: fewer pieces, worn more often, chosen for real weather rather than a packing list fantasy.

Leave the delicate, high-maintenance set at home. Pack metal that is comfortable against skin, unfussy at airport screening, and still looks considered at dinner.

Pack a capsule, not a vault

• One pair of earrings you can wear every day — hoops or studs that work with a blazer and a swimsuit cover-up.
• One fine necklace that sits cleanly on open collars, crew necks, and hotel robes.
• One bracelet or cuff that dresses up a plain tee after a day of walking.
• One ring stack that feels finished alone, so you are not managing a jewellery box in a suitcase.

Airports, hotels, and climate

Wear your everyday set through security rather than burying it in a pouch you will lose at the tray. In humid cities, water-friendly finishes matter more than extra sparkle. In dry heat or air-conditioned rooms, a soft cloth at night is enough. Keep pieces off bathroom marble — steam and perfume live there.

Water, salt, and sunscreen

If a piece is made for daily wear, it can handle a swim, a shower, or rain. Wipe it dry anyway. Salt, chlorine, and leftover SPF dull a finish faster than time does. Store jewellery away from sunscreen bottles and in its own soft fold of fabric — not mixed with keys and chargers.
